Featured on Pop The Artist!

I’m super excited to be featured on the awesome NY website Pop The Artist this week. In the feature I’m interviewed talking about an experimental electronic process piece I wrote a while back.  Check out the interview and music here:

And…We’re Back!

Well, after about 6 months of silence and technical website issues we’ve finally managed to be able to log back in to our own website and update some stuff.

Check out the sounds page.  I’ve added some recently completed projects to my discography that I’m pretty excited about, including some songs from my new band Rainbows.

We’re currently in the permitting process for building our main live room.  Wish us luck while we grapple with the city.  We hope to actually start putting hammer to nail in the next few weeks!

Some upcoming projects we’re pretty exited about:

-+- New Austenitic EP

-+-Panther Attack full length

-+-Saint Genet tape release

-+-White Coward EP

-+-Bone Cave Ballet mixes

-+-New Rainbows

Special thanks to Jeff Huston for his invaluable website support!

You can peruse some of his rad music here.

Post Actually Really

Thanks to all who came out to the Northwest Film Forum to see Actually Really. We feel that it was a very successful experiment and a great start to a series of explorations using the media and format of sensor technology, video, and sound. Ezra and I are already concocting plans to continue developing work under the ‘Actually Really’ umbrella using this format, so keep your eyes and ears peeled. Pics and video of the show are on the way!!

Actually Really

This is a line halved in thirds.

A plane, a point, left still,

Dripping every last step.

Fingers stripped of skin, walking.

A quantum element moves

As the smallest piece of all of us.

We rest in two positions.

We are superpositioned, light,

And as if nothing ever happened.

Weight, 2240 ounces,

If only that was all.

Damp neverending intermediate strings connect tacks,

A fallow yet suitable termination of the thought.

Forsight only quickens

The light that age brings.

Progress

We got our sensors from France today:

Pretty neat, eh?  Now we’re just waiting for the transmitter/receiver kit, then we can plug Ezra in and start a conversation between his body and the computer.

At the top of the picture is the master map I made of the whole piece.  It shows the overlapping and phasing cyclical patterns of the work throughout it’s 48 minute duration, and helps us to visualize where the important sync points fall.

Here’s the dungeon at ExEx HQ dressed up all strange like for our video shoot earlier today.  Doug got some killer footage of Ezra moving about in and among the hanging detritus:

Tomorrow, I’ll be continuing on composing the prerecorded music and working out some text/VO ideas.  If anyone is in downtown Fremont, come say hi and save me from myself!

Actually Really at NWFF

My choreographer friend Ezra Dickinson and I are working on a multimedia dance performance piece right now. It will be premiering at The Northwest Film Forum March 17th – 19th on Capitol Hill. If you live in Seattle please come.

For the show, I’ll be hooking Ezra up to wireless sensor hardware that will allow him to control sound with his movements.

Also, we are super excited to have our insane video art friends SoSpunWeSpunWest on board. Check out their awesomeness here. Doug from SoSpun is on his way over right now to shoot some video for the piece.

You can get more info and buy tickets here.

More to come!

Updates

Well, I finally managed to find time to flesh out the site with some photos and more info.

Of particular note is the SOUNDS section, with an updated discography and plenty of audio samples to listen to.
Check it out!
